You Don't Need a Dashboard

You Don't Need a Dashboard

Most dashboards are beautiful. Most of them are also useless.

They abstract the numbers. They hide the math. They turn business performance into colored boxes that look impressive in meetings but don’t actually improve decisions.

I believe spreadsheets are 10x more valuable than static dashboards - especially for growth-stage brands.

Here’s why.

When your data lives in Google Sheets:

  • You can see every calculation.

  • You can adjust assumptions in real time.

  • You can model scenarios.

  • You can audit logic.

When it lives in a static dashboard:

  • You’re dependent on someone else’s structure.

  • You don’t know what’s being blended or filtered.

  • You can’t easily test new formulas.

  • You’re one export away from friction.

Tools don’t create clarity. Systems do.

For Shopify brands, the real work isn’t tracking ROAS. It’s understanding:

  • Blended CAC

  • MER

  • Contribution margin

  • Offer performance

  • Payback period

  • Cohort behavior

Those calculations should be visible.

If your team can’t explain how your blended CAC is calculated, you don’t have clarity — you have decoration.

The Growth Chick approach is simple:
Start with clean Shopify exports. Layer in paid channel data. Build a transparent sheet where anyone on the team can follow the math.

That’s how you create alignment between marketing and finance.

I don’t build dashboards to impress.
I build systems that improve decisions.
